Saudade (Portuguese) - A melancholic nostalgia for someone or something from the past. (Credit.)

Summer cranked the heat,
I licked popsicles and listened
to Adia on my radio.
Dreams sparkled like
glittery rain storms
of infinite possibilities.

Everything was endless,
nights raged on for weeks.
Stars burned brighter,
beer went down smoother,
love was a specter
belly dancing in the flames.

Perpetual ecstasy withers
upon the stage
of Summer’s finale.
The cast bows, parts ways,
spirits unquestionably altered
as fire’s last coals die out.

I lick popsicles and listen
to Adia on my radio.
