The Fox
  Evelyn Deshane

this morning, she comes to me;
red fox with a bushy tail
green eyes and a mouth as wide
as a river basin in
the spring, jagged rocks as teeth.
in the frost, we pause and look
trying to decide who is
more dangerous: her with teeth
sharp as the rocks, or me with
human hands and history.
